This holiday season, give the gift of donating blood and help many lives! The Red Cross and the library are partnering to host a blood drive this month. Donors must bring photo ID, donor card, or use the Blood Donor app. All donors and volunteers are required to wear a mask, and worn appropriately (nose and mouth covered), as this is a Red Cross National guideline. Donors are encouraged to use RapidPass (redcrossblood.org/rapidpass) on the day of the drive which will help them through the process quicker. Donors who are 19+ must at least weigh 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors who are 16 must have a signed consent form and donors who are between 16 and 18 must meet a special height and weight criteria. For eligibility questions, potential donors can call 1-866-236-3276, select option 3 and then option 1. This hotline will assist donors with questions about eligibility to donate, travel, medications, surgeries, illnesses, vaccines, etc. Donors should remember to eat well balanced meals and drink extra water before and after donating. No children or people who are not donating will be permitted in the donor room due to social distancing policies by the Red Cross. *All donors will receive a long-sleeved t-shirt as a special thank you.
