It’s a bit early in the year for tea on the lawn. Come to the Community Room instead. But first, be sure to respond to this invitation by March 2nd in order to reserve your place at the tea table. You may make a reservation in person at the circulation desk or by telephone or Facebook.

Conversation, refreshments and parlor games will fill the hour. And would it be Downton without sharing just a little gossip and a few pointed remarks as well?

Historical costumes and fancy hats are not required, but will you want to miss a chance to dress for the occasion? Choose your favorite Downton decade for your look.

The event celebrates fans’ reluctant farewell to the popular series on PBS Masterpiece Theatre as the last episode of the final season airs Sunday evening, March 6th. The story of the people both upstairs and downstairs has provided ample opportunity for beautiful scenes, stunning costumes, plot twists, romance, historical references, and pointed remarks from the inimitable Violet. At the same time it has stimulated more than a few conversations about the historical events and the changes in society during the show’s time arc.

Whether you identify with the family upstairs or the folks downstairs, do come to tea and enjoy just a bit of Downton at the library.
