SUMMARY:The Invisible String Group for Kids
DESCRIPTION:A new interactive\, activity-based group will be starting to support children who deal with separation issues such as: \n\nFirst days of school\, camp\, or other life milestones\nFriendship and other relationship challenges\nFamily separations due to travel\, illness\, or military service\nDivorce\nTrauma\nTemporary or permanent loss\n\nLed by Sheron McClung Borders\, this group is for children ages kindergarten and up and will be held in the Friends room from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Thursdays\, starting February 5 and ending March 12. (Children 7 and under need to have an adult present in the library during the activity.) The group will work through lessons and activities based on the book The Invisible String Workbook: Creative Activities to Comfort\, Calm\, and Connect by Patrice Karst and Dana Wyss. Snacks will be served\, as well. Space is limited\, and registration is required. Please call or visit the library to sign up.

SUMMARY:Interactive STREAM Studio
DESCRIPTION:Interactive STREAM Studio is back! Purdue Extension 4-H & JCPL are hosting an Interactive STREAM Studio! Students in grades 3-6 can learn about science\, technology\, reading\, engineering\, art\, and math through a hands-on progress of making. We will be exploring computer science\, money\, science and math in art and cooking\, and more!  The event is free and all students attending any school in Jay County are welcome to attend. STREAM Studio students will come on either the 1st or 2nd Wednesdays of each month from 3:00-4:30 p.m.\, and students may sign up for their school’s session online. Space is limited. A bus from Jay Schools will be available\, but children will need to be picked up from the library. There will also be both plugged and unplugged activities to teach pattern recognition\, algorithms\, and other scientific and computational thinking processes. Students who have a Jay County Public Library card or a Dunkirk Public Library card are encouraged to bring it each week to check out library materials. *Please be aware we will be using valuable equipment. Appropriate conduct is a must! Your child can be dismissed from the program if failure to follow the rules occurs. *It is recommended students bring a Chromebook or other personal device. Sign up information will be available at the library. Please complete and turn in registration by October 1 to Purdue Extension. There will be printed resources about gardening on the table\, as well. Note: If you have extra seeds from the packets you received from us\, feel free to share them with friends\, family\, or someone you know who needs to get their garden started\, as well!
