Fall Fun with the Friends: Slow Cooker Showdown & Bake Sale
October 26 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Calling all chefs and foodies! The Friends of JCPL are excited to announce their new fall fundraiser event that will get you in the mood for slow cooker and baking season! The Friends invite chefs of any skill level, in teams of two people maximum, to show off their cooking skills in a slow cooker on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring ANY type of food in their slow cooker, it’s the chef’s choice. There is an entry fee of $5 per team. Entry fees can be dropped off at the library prior to the event; cash or checks made out to the Friends of the Jay County Public Library, will be accepted. Cooking teams will need to check in at the library with their slow cooker at 10 a.m. and will need to have their food ready for public tasting and voting at this time. Teams must be present and stay at the event the whole time. The official judging for the competition will begin at 12 p.m. The top three favorites, plus the public voting favorite, will win a prize! The public is invited to drop by from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to purchase baked goods from the bake sale and to try samples from the competitors and vote for their favorites after 10 a.m. Come out and enjoy some baked goods or samples from the slow cooker competition, or enter to be in the showdown for yourself—all for a good cause! All proceeds from the entry fees and bake sale purchases will go towards helping fund library programs. Come support the Friends and the library, and have some fun while doing it!
