Teens' Summer Reading Program 2013 to be announced.
An annual school bus ride and safety information is offered at the end of summer to Jay County's incoming kindergarten and 1st grade students. Children ride a real school bus from JCPL to Bloomfield Elementary. The bus driver provides a review of school bus safety rules. At the school building, the kindergarten teacher will welcome the children to her classroom where they are treated to some kindergarten fun, a story or two, and a chance to play on the playground equipment. Come share and learn with your child. The bus leaves the library at 10:00 a.m. and returns at noon.
2013 "Ready to Ride" Call (260-726-7890) or stop by the library (315 N. Ship St., Portland) to register your kindergartener or first grader. Riders must be accompanied by an adult. Older and younger siblings may not ride the school bus. The program is limited to 50 bus riders.
