This saying, and many others, are heard a lot around the middle of March. Seems like on St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is Irish! You can celebrate this special day—Irish or not—by checking out some of these library items.
Have fun with leprechauns and other Irish amusements by checking out these Early Books:
"MARCH 27, 2010 - Saturday - from 8pm to 9pm (your local time). The concept is for as many people as possible around the world to turn off lights for an hour. Security and emergency lighting will remain on. Millions of people, businesses, governments and civic organizations around the globe turn off their lights for Earth Hour. More than 100 cities across North America participate. It's done annually on the last Saturday in March.” The movement symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact ... protecting our future and that of future generations. —from World Wildlife Fund's "Earth Hour" page
Log on to Earth Hour Kids to see how you can join in. There are lots of fun activities and great information at this site as well!

And the February Olympics reading and movement program, with your chance to earn a gold medal? Then don’t miss out on our version of March madness with the reading program: “Mad about the Library in March.” Details about participating will be available at the library starting March 1st. Basketball, reading, fun, and more will all be involved. You won’t want to miss a minute of the action!
Planning a trip for Spring Break? Call the library before you go and request a travel kit! These kits are available for any child under 18 years of age. Let us know where the destination is, how long it will take you to get there, and with a few other details, we can tailor make a kit to suit your needs! Kits typically include books, stories on cassette or CD, and paper games and puzzles. We can provide background information about a location where you will be visiting, or it can all be just for fun. Movies on video and DVD can also be checked out by vacationers. If you need an extended check out, inquire at the desk to see if we can make it work for you. Happy Traveling!
