The Jay County Public Library will join Evergreen Indiana, a growing network of public, school and institutional libraries located throughout Indiana that use the Evergreen software. Patrons of member libraries are able to view the catalogs of other member libraries and to borrow materials from those libraries using their Evergreen Indiana library card. Evergreen Policy To ensure consistency of service across the network, membership in Evergreen Indiana requires member libraries to adopt and abide by common policies; therefore, some Jay County Public Library policies have changed. What are some changes?
Overdue Fines Overdue fines for all materials will be calculated at $.25 per day, per item with a $10.00 cap per item.
As a courtesy, patrons will receive notification of overdue items. This is a courtesy only. Your transaction receipt is your "first notice" of the due date and are the best record of it. However, notices may be sent through the following methods: EMAIL: Patrons with current email addresses will receive the following email notices:
U.S. POSTAL SERVICE: Patrons who do not have an email address or who do not keep their email address current on their library account will receive the following notices through the U.S. Postal Service:
A final notice, which declares items LOST and assesses the replacement cost of the overdue materials and related costs, including any applicable collection costs and a $10.00 per item processing fee will be sent via U.S. First Class Mail 45 days after the due date. Accounts may be assigned to a 3rd party for collection, and reports to credit rating agencies may be issued.
