Bookmobile Service

Bookmobile service has been offered by the library in a variety of forms since 1948.  At present, the bookmobile visits the six elementary schools in the library's tax district and maintains deposit collections at a variety of locations in the county, such as nursing homes, elderly housing units, etc.  The current bookmobile was placed in service in 1999.

Summer 2015 Bookmobile at Redkey Elementary School Wednesdays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

As a part of the Summer Reading Program and in cooperation with Redkey Elementary School—thanks to former JCPL Page and current School Librarian Cathy Fugiett—the bookmobile will visit Redkey Elementary School every Wednesday for a six-week period June 3  - July 8.

Books and audio materials will be available for normal check-out. Sign-up for the Summer Reading Program, check in and out, place holds, renew, or sign up for a new card. Call the library to request specific materials if desired and they'll be loaded on the bookmobile for its next trip.  No DVDs will be available on the bookmobile.

NEW!  Summer 2015 Bookmobile at Bearcreek Farms  Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00 am  June 4 - July 9

School Bookmobile Visits

The bookmobile visits Bloomfield Elementary, East Elementary, General Shanks Elementary, Judge Haynes Elementary, Redkey Elementary and the Jay County Christian Academy every other week during the academic year.  Students have the opportunity to choose books and check them out with a current Jay County Public Library card.  For many students the bookmobile is an introduction to the public library and the first time to apply for and use a library card of their own.   More about Bookmobile service to schools.

Book Stations - Book Deposit Collections

The library currently provides deposit collections for Miller's Merry Manor (outside Dunkirk), Westwind Apartments (in Redkey), and the Jay County Retirement Center.

The collections are changed every four weeks.  Readers may use the materials and return them to the collection point.  Although it may not be possible to honor all specific requests, users of the deposit collection may contact the library with suggestions for subjects, authors or genres to include in the collections.

For other outreach information see Homebound Delivery.
